The Annual picnic of Team Ecotech this year on October 18-19 was at the serene, uncluttered minor hill station of Yelagiri in Tamilnadu some 150 Km from Bangalore. The gang of 38, the largest contingent in the history of Ecotech reached the Sterling Resorts in Yelagiri in three Tempo Travellers hired for the occasion.
After lunch at the Resort, the team thoroughly enjoyed row boating in the smallish lake. This was followed by an arduous 3 km trek through a reserve forest to reach the sunset view point atop a small hillock with a rock outcrop. The orange hues of the Sunsetting above and a magnificent vista of the town of Vaniyambadi at 1800 m below was exhilarating. And we trekked back the 3 km before darkness engulfed the heavily canopied forest in an extension of the Eastern Ghats of India.
The later part of the evening was spent in good cheer and bonhomie of a family get together. Later the more energetic of the troupe broke out into an impromptu dance around a bonfire and DJ music provided by the Resort.
The following day, the Jalagamparai falls near Tirupattur beckoned us, a short detour on the way back to Bangalore. Providentially, there was a good flow of water on account of the incessant and unseasonal rains in the district in mid October betwixt and between the SW and the NE monsoon seasons.
A great time was had by all.
